The AvAUNT project is working to advance the understanding of the aerodynamic interference challenges associated with Ultra High Bypass Ratio (UHBR) nacelles that incorporate integrated Adaptive Area Nozzle (AAN) technology, both in the isolated and installed configurations.
Leveraging the collective expertise of the AvAUNT consortium, candidate designs will be studied by utilising a combination of computational simulation and experimental techniques. This will result in a verified process for the sizing and design of an integrated AAN, where the effects on powerplant performance due to an AAN are properly understood.
This forms part of the Large Passenger Aircraft (LPA) Innovative Aircraft Development Platform (IADP), aimed at the development of key enabling technologies to TRL 6, with phased maturity and integration of activities.
This project has received funding from the Clean Sky 2 Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 738036.
